Safe Cooking : PFOA free PTFE coating
Tefal was one of the first manufacturers to eliminate PFOA from its non-stick coatings over a decade ago.
Tefal non-stick coated cookware products are subject to very regular analyses carried out by independent laboratories under the strictest methodologies. These checks have systematically established the absence of PFOA in Tefal utensils.
PFOA FREE coating
PFOA – perfluorooctanoic acid – was used by some manufacturers to synthesize PTFE
Safe coating: PTFE inert coating
Tefal was the first to use PTFE as the main component of its non-stick coatings.
Public Health Authorities in Europe and in the United States have demonstrated that PTFE is an inert substance with no effect on health, even in the case of ingestion. These authorities have confirmed the health safety of PTFE.
PTFE – polytetrafluoroethylene – used in cookware coatings for its non-stick properties
Lower fat cooking
For public health reasons, authorities recommend to limit the consumption of fat.
In 1956, Tefal launched the first non-stick coating cookware, enabling cooking with little to no oil. On top of this nutritional benefit it helps to better preserve the original flavor of food.
Since 2000, Tefal products are equipped with Thermo-Spot© technology which turns full red when the pan has reached the ideal temperature.
It guarantees perfect texture, perfect color and perfect taste for delicious full-flavored meals every day.
More recently, Experience© and Assisteo© by Tefal have been designed to avoid over-heating the pan thus preserving flavors and nutritional quality of the food.
Healthy cooking day after day
Our researchers work with the constant aim to extend the durability of our coatings so they remain non-stick, safe and scratch free even after years of intensive cooking.
