A low sinusoidal current is sent through your body. It easily passes through tissue that is rich in water (lean mass: muscle, skin, etc.); however, it encounters greater resistance with tissue that has little water (fat mass).
The resistance obtained, combined with equations that take into account your profile, allows us to calculate your lean mass.
Fat mass is obtained by subtracting the lean mass from your total weight.

When you step on the scales, barefoot, an electric current of very low intensity is transmitted through the body via the electrodes. This current, which travels from one foot to the other, encounter difficulties when it has to pass through fat. This resistance of the body, called bioelectrical impedance, varies according to gender, age and height of the user, and makes it possible to determine body fat. This device is perfectly safe because it operates with a very low current (4 x 1.5 V batteries).
To be fully satisfied with this appliance, measuring and weighing must always be conducted under the same conditions: • Always weigh yourself in bare feet. Your feet must be dry and properly positioned on the electrodes. Beware that if your feet have too much hard skin the measurement may be affected. • preferably once a week first thing in the morning, • 1/4 of an hour after waking up, so that the water in your body is distributed in the lower limbs. It is also important to ensure that there is no contact between the legs (thighs, knees, calves) or between the feet. If necessary, slip a sheet of paper between your legs.
We recommend always using new alkaline batteries (LR03 batteries), and never using saline batteries (R03 batteries) or rechargeable batteries (HR03 batteries). When changing the batteries, always replace all batteries with new alkaline batteries. This does not apply to scales using CR2032 button batteries or lithium batteries.
It is normal for the "8888" message to be displayed when batteries are inserted. The product is in the initialisation phase. Place it on a flat surface and wait for the message to clear. Moving or stepping on it while “8888” is displayed will restart initialisation. Initialisation can take from 5 to 30 seconds.
The virtual keyboard is only activated once weighing is complete. Here are the rules to follow: • Step off the product once weighing is complete, • The product must remain on the ground when tapping the keys, • Only tap the keys with one finger, • Only use a finger to tap the keys (no objects).
During the bathroom scale manufacturing calibration some variations could appeared from one scale to another. Some differences coming from these variations could appear if you compare your weight on two different bathroom scales.
We recommend that you consult your doctor to determine precisely whether the smart scales can be used safely during your pregnancy. If you use it, the body fat mass calculation will be incorrect. Therefore, we recommend that you do not take account of your results during pregnancy.
You should not use the smart scales if you are have a pacemaker or any other medical device. The smart scales emit a small electrical signal through your body in order to measure your body fat mass, which may harm or interfere with a pacemaker (or other medical device).
